Why Christian Horner Isn’t Surprised With Ferrari Sacking Binotto

In a recent announcement, Mattia Binotto confirmed that he will no longer be Ferrari’s team principal. This has left Ferrari scrambling to find a replacement for the position, with many names being tossed around as potential candidates. Among these is Christian Horner, the current team principal of Red Bull.

When asked about the news, Horner responded with his thoughts on the upcoming season, stating, “You have to assume [Mercedes] will come back fighting hard next year, Ferrari as well will be looking to make progress. It’s set to be a really tough season next year.” Horner’s statement highlights the competitive nature of Formula 1 racing and the importance of having a strong team principal in place.

Horner then addressed the news of Binotto’s departure, stating, “Not really. It’s Ferrari’s choice. It’ll be the 6th team principal I’d have sat opposite since I’ve been at Red Bull.” Horner’s experience in the sport has given him a unique perspective on the constant changes that occur within teams. He went on to acknowledge the challenges that Binotto faced during his tenure, stating, “Difficult for him, they had a great car this year and were very competitive.”

Despite his acknowledgment of Ferrari’s decision, Horner made it clear that he has no interest in leaving Red Bull to join Ferrari. “I’m committed very much to the Red Bull team, I’ve been there since the beginning and have a very close attachment,” Horner stated. This loyalty to his team and dedication to the sport has made him a respected figure in the Formula 1 community.

Horner’s comments shed light on the competitive landscape of Formula 1 racing and the importance of strong leadership within a team. With the search for Ferrari’s new team principal ongoing, it will be interesting to see who is ultimately selected for the role.
