Have Mercedes Finally Fixed Their Car?

Mercedes have been facing a tough season, with Red Bull and Ferrari being ahead of them when the season started. However, the team has made great strides forward in recent races, and are now just 19 points behind Ferrari in the championship. Many believe that this bodes well for their 2023 campaign.

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes driver, explained the significance of their recent 1-2 finish in Brazil, stating, “Definitely is a great, great sign. For a long, long period of time we couldn’t really, truly understand what the problem was or how to fix it.” He then highlighted the team’s difficulties in finding a solution, saying, “It was difficult because we kept trying and trying and trying, and every time something new came, we still had the problems we had.”

Hamilton went on to confirm that they now have a clear direction forward, adding, “This is really, really huge. We know where our North Star is, we know where we need to put all our efforts in to this winter.” Teammate George Russell also noted the team’s progress over the past few races, saying, “The progress we’ve made as a team has just been unbelievable. And since Austin, we’ve, as a team fought for victory, or had the possibility for victory, every single race.”

Russell expressed high hopes for next year, stating, “The factory is going to be pumping over the winter, and we’re going to be giving everything we’ve got to come out in that very first test with a car that can compete from race one.” With Mercedes now in a better position than they were earlier in the season, it seems that they are gearing up to make a strong comeback in 2023.
