Vettel Calls Out FIA’s “Nonsense” Rule

The FIA’s recent announcement regarding drivers seeking permission before expressing their beliefs has caused quite a stir in the F1 community. One of the most notable reactions came from four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who labelled the rule as “nonsense”. Speaking to Auto Bild, Vettel spoke about the importance of taking a stand on certain issues and how it doesn’t make much sense to go against that now.

Vettel did acknowledge that there might have been some trouble if this rule was implemented during his active years as an F1 driver, but he stressed the importance of standing up for what you believe in, especially in recent years where more and more people are taking a stand.

“I’m no longer involved, so of course I can say a lot now. But of course, I hope that the guys in Formula 1 will continue to have the courage to stand up for what they believe in when the time comes.”

It remains to be seen how this new rule will affect the F1 drivers going forward, but it’s clear that Vettel and many others are not in favour of it. As the new F1 season gets underway, it will be interesting to see how the drivers navigate this new rule and whether they’ll be willing to speak out on important issues despite the potential consequences.
