Red Bull’s Dig At 2023 Aston Martin Being An Imitation Of Red Bull’s Car

Red Bull has taken a subtle dig at Aston Martin following their impressive performance at the Bahrain Grand Prix. With Aston Martin finishing third, behind Red Bull and Mercedes, many are now considering them to be one of the top teams in F1. However, Red Bull’s top brass have suggested that Aston Martin’s new-found success is thanks to their imitation of Red Bull’s car, with the former hiring personnel who previously worked at the latter.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner praised Aston Martin’s performance, saying that they “looked like a good car” and that “they’ve obviously done a good job over the winter”. However, he also took a subtle dig at the situation, saying that “imitation is the biggest form of flattery” and that it’s good to see the “old car” doing so well.

Meanwhile, Red Bull team advisor Helmut Marko was more vocal about his views on the situation, stating that “what [Dan] Fallows [former head of aerodynamics at Red Bull and current Technical Director at Aston Martin] had in his head cannot be erased”. He questioned whether Aston Martin had copied Red Bull’s car in such detail without having access to documentation and raised doubts over the legality of such a move.

Marko went on to say that “copying the focus is not prohibited, but can you copy in such detail without having documentation of our car?” He also noted that “we had three Red Bulls on the podium, only the last one with a different engine”, suggesting that Aston Martin’s success is due to their imitation of Red Bull’s car.

While Red Bull has raised questions over Aston Martin’s recent success, the latter team has been celebrating their podium finish. After finishing seventh in the championship last year, the team has made significant progress over the winter, leading many to believe that they are now one of the top three teams in F1. The hiring of personnel who previously worked at Red Bull has been cited as a major factor in this improvement. Despite Red Bull’s skepticism, Aston Martin is relishing their success and looking forward to the rest of the season.
